The original painting in acrylic, found here, was inspired by my friend Emily Grossman's words,
"You are only blazing a trail if you light candles to guide those who walk behind you."
After I read that, I instantly pictured the original painting in my head, and eventually it was created.
Evolution of a Painting
We can evolve into a new version of ourselves every day
by learning something new
from books, new experiences, learning new skills, etc.
Art can also evolve into a different version,
whether it’s covering a song with a new take or an artist adding to their original artwork.
And, art can evolve for the viewer too.
Let’s say months ago,
an artwork made you ponder your life as you stared at it,
and today, it makes you feel inspired!
This 24”x36” artwork has the same intention behind the original acrylic painting
- lighting the path to guide those who walk behind you, as you blaze your trail -
just with more attributes:
Added:
Hand clayed and painted flames
Painted alta
Glued jewelry
New coat of paint for the cave
The evolution for me with this artwork
is that I learned a new medium that I can add allowing me to enhance the emotion and intention of my art.
The evolution for this artwork is going from 2D to 3D -
the adorned leg
and the popping out flames
expressing its evolution to a newer version.

What talents and/or skills do you need to evolve in order to reach a goal?
What steps can you take to develop these talents and skills?
Go to this blog post here, which speaks about self-efficacy but generally has the same questions, and share in the comments, or if you want to keep it private, just self-reflect on these questions and write down what comes to you.
